Don and Laural would like to share their little corner of Paradise in Wyoming with you for your lodging needs. As your host and hostess of Lander Lodging, home of “Wyoming Sinks Canyon Miniature Horse Ranch,” we want to make your stay with us as wonderful as possible. What we love is: the pure taste of freedom, the vibrant smell of fresh air, deep blue sky and sunshine ~300 days of the year. We also love the wide open outdoors with it's variety of terrain offering world class: fishing, hiking, kayaking, climbing, 4-wheeling, mountain biking, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and some of the best hunting in the U.S.. We love being one with nature and enjoying: proud bugeling Elk, majestic Mule Deer, roaming Antelope, mischevious Squirrels, mysterious Llamas, cooing Pheasant, and the playful Miniature Horses. Life doesn't get any better than this!
We are located at the mouth of Sinks Canyon, a rugged canyon at the base of the southern Wind River Mountains in Wyoming. The canyon is named for it's unique geological formation, where the river vanishes into a large cavern (called “The Sinks”) but reappears in a trout filled pool, “The Rise,” about a half mile down the canyon. These trout live a life of leisure, measuring upwards of 26+ inches, while visitors feed them.
Within the canyon walls are found unspoiled symbols of the best of Wyoming, the mountains, the river, fish and wildlife: sage, wildflowers, aspen and pine trees, a rugged country of tranquil quiet under blue skies.
“Wyoming Sinks Canyon Miniature Horse Ranch” breeds and sells some of Wyoming’s best mini horses. Our horses are double registered AMHA and AMHR. The horses are DNA'd or parent qualified. Being a responsible breeder and keeping our mini herd at a manageable number is important to us, therefore we have a select number of horses for sale each year. We sell our mini horses at fair market value, and GOOD HOMES are a must.
As “Home on the Range,” was penned just south of here, you are likely to see deer, antelope or wild horses on your drive into our “turn of the century town.” The Indians and the trappers called Lander “warm valley,” sitting on the eastern side of the Wind River Mountains, sheltered as it is from the wind and much of the inclement weather.
The mystique of: the llamas and miniature horses, serene mountain lodging, wild life, sit in a perfect balance of hillside veiws, with some shrouded Aspen and Pine Forest, which make for a unique picturesque setting. Walk along the whispering creek and enjoy the llamas and miniature horses, a very pleasant way to start or end your day. Sightings of pheasant, squirrels, deer and other wild life in the early morning and late afternoon are very common.
A stay at Lander Lodging is an experience to be remembered!
